Product data

Product data is data whose values are composed of several fixed attributes, all present at once. It’s also known as a record, a struct, or a tuple. An address, for example, is product data. It has a name, a street, a street number, a city, and a zip code, and a given address value carries all of these attributes together, not just one of them.

Product data takes its name from the mathematical notion of a product type. The type of an address is the cartesian product of the types of its individual fields.

This is the natural counterpart to sum data, where a value is exactly one of several distinct alternatives rather than a combination of several fields at once.
